AN ACT concerning

Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services -
Mutual Aid Agreements

FOR the purpose of authorizing emergency medical services units
to enter into certain mutual aid agreements; clarifying
certain requirements and authorizations for certain fire and
rescue entities that enter into certain mutual aid
agreements with certain governmental entities and certain
other fire and rescue entities under certain conditions;
defining certain terms; and generally relating to mutual aid
agreements for certain fire, rescue, and emergency medical
services entities.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 38A - Fires and Investigations

[37.

The board of fire commissioners of any fire department, or
governmental subdivision, or any fire department, fire company or
rescue squad through its authorized agents, are hereby
authorized, in their discretion, to enter into or renew
reciprocal agreements for such periods as they deem advisable
with any adjacent fire company or county, or both, and with the
District of Columbia, the states of Virginia, West Virginia,
Pennsylvania, Delaware or adjacent counties, or both, or fire
departments or governmental units therein, in order to establish
and carry into effect a plan to provide mutual aid through the
furnishing of fire fighting or rescue personnel or both and
