AN ACT concerning
Alcoholic Beverages - Licensees - Alcohol Awareness
FOR the purpose of requiring holders or designees of the holders
of certain alcoholic beverages licenses to complete training
in an alcohol awareness program; providing certain
exceptions; defining an alcohol awareness program; providing
certain penalties for violators of this Act; requiring the
State Comptroller to approve and certify alcohol awareness
programs; providing for the enforcement of certain
provisions of this Act; providing for the use of the
evidence of violations of this Act; prohibiting the use of
this Act to create or enlarge any civil cause of action or
criminal proceeding against a licensee; permitting the State
Comptroller to certify programs as of a certain date;
authorizing the local alcoholic beverages licensing
authority to waive the requirements of this Act in certain
circumstances; authorizing the local alcoholic beverages
licensing authority to recommend additions to the alcohol
awareness programs; and generally relating to alcohol
awareness within certain licensed establishments that sell
alcoholic beverages on-premises.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages
130A.
(A) IN THIS SECTION "ALCOHOL AWARENESS PROGRAM" MEANS A
PROGRAM:
(1) THAT IS DESIGNED AND PREPARED OR ADOPTED FOR USE
BY THE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES LICENSE ISSUING AUTHORITY OF EACH
COUNTY AND BALTIMORE CITY FOR USE IN THAT RESPECTIVE
JURISDICTION;
(1) THAT IS APPROVED AND CERTIFIED BY THE STATE
COMPTROLLER;
