AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Drivers' Licenses - Names

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of the term "name" to
include an individual's name as changed under the common law
of this State or any other state for the purpose of the
issuance of drivers' licenses; requiring an applicant for a
driver's license whose name has been changed under the
common law of this State or any other state to submit
certain documents to the Motor Vehicle Administration;
making technical changes; and generally relating to the
application for, and issuance of, drivers' licenses in
certain names.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

11-137.

"Name" means:

(1)  True or legal name;

(2)   In the case of an individual, the name given at
birth to the individual by his parents, or as changed UNDER THE
COMMON LAW OF THIS STATE OR ANY OTHER STATE, by marriage, or by
court order; and

(3)   In the case of an individual party to an absolute
divorce, the individual may elect to use any legal or true name
