Ch. 3
LAWS OF MARYLAND
(1) MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT
(2) IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES UNDER
THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN THE STATE
BUDGET.
(D) STAFF.
THE BOARD MAY EMPLOY A STAFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE
BUDGET.
REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is standard
language substituted for the fourth sentence of former
Art. 56, § 305, which provided for a quorum of 3
members of the Board. This substitution reflects
that, when Ch. 638, Acts of 1972, enacted the
reference to 3 members, that number constituted a
majority but that the Governor added 2 consumer
members under the provisions now codified as Art. 41,
§ 8-102, without a corresponding change being made to
the quorum provision. The substituted language
conforms to the practice of the Board. The
substituted language also will accommodate possible
future legislative changes in the number of members to
be appointed to the Board, without the necessity of
enacting a conforming change here. As to the current
"authorized membership" of the Board, see §
7-202(a)(l) of this subtitle.
Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first and second
sentences of former Art. 56, § 305.
Subsection (c) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, § 304.
Subsection (d) of this section is standard language
added to state expressly that which only was implied
in the former law.
In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the former
reference to the date required for the initial meeting
of the Board is deleted as obsolete.
In subsection (c)(2) of this section, the reference to
"Standard State Travel Regulations" is substituted for
the former reference to "actual traveling and
incidental" expenses "necessarily incurred in carrying
out ... this subheading". See SF § 10-203 and COMAR
23.02.01.01 through 12.
