AN ACT concerning

Maryland Coal Tax - Repeal of Sunset

FOR the purpose of repealing the provision of law that terminates
as of a certain date the provisions for the Maryland coal
tax in Garrett County and code counties; and providing for
an annual meeting of county officials.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Chapter 769 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1981, as
amended by Chapter 616 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1983 and Chapter 671 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1987

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 24 - Political Subdivisions - Miscellaneous Provisions

Subtitle 5. Coal Taxes

9-501.

Garrett County and any code county shall impose, for each
fiscal year, a tax on every person exercising the privilege of
engaging in or continuing in the business of severing coal by the
surface mining method in the county.
