SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.

AN ACT concerning
Child Care - Family Day Care Homes and
Child Care Centers
FOR the purpose of providing that family day care is certain care
provided to a child younger than a certain age or to a
developmentally disabled person younger than a certain age;
providing for the numbers of children for whom a day care
provider may provide care under certain circumstances;
altering the numbers of children for whom a day care
provider may provide care; providing that the Secretary of
Human Resources or the Secretary's designee may exercise
certain authority; providing for a certain multidisciplinary
team to convene either in person or by telephone when
reports of child abuse are made involving family day care
homes; providing for State police assistance to a local law
enforcement agency under certain circumstances; providing
that a child care center does not include a family day care
home; defining a certain term; providing that the rules and
regulations for child care centers shall provide different
standards for certain care given to children of certain
ages; providing that certain bona fide church religious
organizations are not required to be licensed to operate a
child care center under certain circumstances; providing for
the issuance of a letter of compliance to certain day care
providers under certain circumstances; specifying that a
letter of compliance expires on the first anniversary of its
effective date unless renewed; specifying that a letter of
compliance may be denied, suspended, or revoked under
certain circumstances; requiring certain facilities that are
operated in a public or private school to comply with
certain fire, building, and zoning laws; prohibiting the
requirement of certain additional regulations; requiring
certain facilities that are operated by bona fide church
certain religious organizations to comply with certain fire,
building, and zoning laws and to be inspected in a certain
manner before being utilized; providing that the Secretary
of Human Resources may seek an injunction in certain
circumstances; defining certain terms; and generally
relating to child care.
