AN ACT concerning
Pensions - Natural Resources Law Enforcement Officers
FOR the purpose of establishing a pension system for Natural
Resources law enforcement officers; providing for membership
in the system; providing for service retirement, disability
retirement, and death and surviving spouse or children's
benefits; providing for workers' compensation benefits;
allowing the vesting of pension benefits; providing for
cost-of-living adjustments; providing for member
contributions; assigning responsibility for administration
of the system; providing for a delayed effective date for
the inclusion of the Department of Natural Resources law
enforcement officers in the system; and generally relating
to pensions for Natural Resources law enforcement officers.

Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System"

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 73B - Pensions
NATURAL RESOURCES LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS' PENSION SYSTEM
157.
(A) THERE IS A NATURAL RESOURCES LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS'
PENSION SYSTEM.
(B) THE MEMBERSHIP OF THIS PENSION SYSTEM SHALL CONSIST OF
LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WHO ARE EMPLOYEES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL RESOURCES. ANY PERSON WHO BECOMES A LAW ENFORCEMENT
OFFICER IN THE EMPLOY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
AFTER JULY 1, 1990 SHALL BECOME A MEMBER OF THIS PENSION SYSTEM
AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT. MEMBERSHIP IN THIS PENSION SYSTEM
SHALL BE OPTIONAL FOR ANY PERSON EMPLOYED AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT
OFFICER BY THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES ON JUNE 30, 1990.
(C) (1) A MEMBER IS ELIGIBLE TO RETIRE IF, ON OR BEFORE THE
EFFECTIVE DATE OF RETIREMENT, THE MEMBER:
