AN ACT concerning
Carroll County - Taxes - Volunteer Fire Companies
FOR the purpose of removing a certain monetary limitation on the
amount of taxes that the Carroll County Commissioners may
levy and collect from certain assessable property to pay for
certain activities and operations of volunteer fire
companies in Carroll County; and generally relating to the
collection of certain taxes for the support of volunteer
fire companies in Carroll County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 7 - Carroll County
3-8.
(A) The County Commissioners of Carroll County shall
annually levy and collect from the assessable property in Carroll
County, as other [county] taxes are levied and collected, [the] A
sum of [up to 8 cents per $100.00 of the value of such property,
which sum of] money THAT IS NEEDED FOR the County Commissioners
[shall] TO distribute and pay to the volunteer fire companies,
except as noted in Section 3-8(B), in the County for the support,
maintenance, equipment (including ambulances) and operation of
the volunteer fire companies[; and said]. THE sum of money
AUTHORIZED BY THIS SUBSECTION shall be proportioned and
distributed among the volunteer fire companies pursuant to a plan
adopted by the executive committee of the Carroll County
Volunteer Firemen's Association and approved by the County
Commissioners.
(B) The County Commissioners may provide service award
payments from such appropriations as provided for in Section
3-8(A) to eligible volunteer firemen as certified by the Carroll
County Volunteer Firemen's Association. The payments may be made
to those individuals who have met the adopted plan requirements
as approved by the County Commissioners. The service award
