CHAPTER 428

(House Bill 654)

AN ACT concerning

Pistols and Revolvers - Transfer Restrictions - Controlled
Dangerous Substance Offenses

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the sale or transfer of a pistol
or revolver to persons convicted of certain controlled
dangerous substance offenses; prohibiting persons convicted
of certain controlled dangerous substance offenses from
possessing a pistol or revolver; requiring an application
for the purchase or transfer of a pistol or revolver or for
a pistol and revolver dealer's license to contain certain
information concerning convictions of certain controlled
dangerous substance offenses; altering certain penalties;
altering the requirements for the content of a certain
legend; and generally relating to requirements for the sale,
transfer, or possession of pistols and revolvers.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 442(e) 442(d) and (e), 443(d), 445, and 448

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1987 Replacement Volume and 1988 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

442.

(d)  The application to purchase or transfer shall bear the
following legend: "Any false information supplied or statement
made in this application is a crime which may be punished by
imprisonment for a period of not more than [two] THREE years, or
a fine of not more than [$1,000] $5,000, or both.

(e)  The application to purchase or transfer shall contain
the following information:

(1) Applicant's name, address, occupation, place and
date of birth, height, weight, race, eye and hair color and
signature. In the event the applicant is a corporation, the
application shall be completed and executed by a corporate
officer who is a resident of the jurisdiction in which the
application is made.
