Subsection (b) of this section is new language added
for clarity. This addition is based on the references
to limited practice schools of cosmetology.

Subsection (c) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause of
former Art. 56, § 495(d).

5-517. SCOPE OF SCHOOL PERMITS.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

WHILE A SCHOOL PERMIT IS IN EFFECT, IT AUTHORIZES THE SCHOOL
PERMIT HOLDER TO OPERATE THE COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL FOR WHICH THE
SCHOOL PERMIT IS ISSUED.

(B)  LIMITED PRACTICE SCHOOL PERMIT.

WHILE A SCHOOL PERMIT FOR THE INSTRUCTION OF A LIMITED
PRACTICE OF COSMETOLOGY IS IN EFFECT, THE SCHOOL PERMIT
AUTHORIZES THE HOLDER TO OPERATE THE COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL ONLY FOR
THE LIMITED PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE PERMIT IS ISSUED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is a standard provision added
for clarity.

5-518. TERM AND RENEWAL OF SCHOOL PERMITS.

(A)  TERM OF SCHOOL PERMIT.

UNLESS A SCHOOL PERMIT IS RENEWED FOR A 2-YEAR TERM AS
PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION, THE SCHOOL PERMIT EXPIRES ON THE FIRST
OCTOBER 31 THAT COMES:

(1)  AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE PERMIT; AND

(2)  IN AN ODD-NUMBERED YEAR.

(B)  RENEWAL NOTICE.

AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE A SCHOOL PERMIT EXPIRES, THE BOARD
SHALL MAIL TO THE SCHOOL PERMIT HOLDER, AT THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS
OF THE HOLDER:

(1) A RENEWAL APPLICATION FORM; AND
