SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.

AN ACT concerning

Health Care Facilities - Admission Procedures -
Anatomical Donations

FOR the purpose of repealing the requirement that a hospital

administrator ascertain and record a patient's organ or

tissue donor status as part of standard admission
procedures.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health - General

19-310.

(a) [As part of a hospital's standard, nonemergency

admission procedures for a patient who needs inpatient or

outpatient care, the hospital administrator or a designated
representative of the administrator shall:

(1)  Ascertain whether the patient is currently an
organ or tissue donor; and

(2)   Include the information under item (1) of this
subsection on the admission form of the patient.]
