WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 330

(C) THE DEPARTMENT SHALL ADOPT REGULATIONS TO IMPLEMENT THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1990 1989.

CHAPTER 330

(Senate Bill 297)

AN ACT concerning

Medical Laboratories - Permit Requirements

FOR the purpose of requiring certain individual physicians and
physician groups to obtain a permit to operate a medical
laboratory under certain circumstances; authorizing
requiring the Department Secretary of Health and Mental
Hygiene to issue exceptions to the permit requirements if
certain conditions are satisfied; requiring the Secretary to
set certain fees;
making certain clarifying changes;
defining certain terms; requiring the Secretary to appoint a
certain committee and a chairman for that committee; and
generally relating to the licensure of medical laboratories.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 17-204, 17-205, and 17-212

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1987 Replacement Volume and 1988 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health - General

17-204.

The Secretary:

(1) Shall set reasonable fees for the issuance and
renewal of permits; [and]

(1) May set a fee for the proficiency testing
program; AND
