In item (l)(ii) of this section, the reference to a
certificate that "certifies that the applicant is free
from any infectious or contagious disease that
presents a hazard to a beauty salon patron" is
substituted for the former reference to a "health"
certificate, for clarity.

Also in item (l)(ii) of this section, the reference to
an "authorized" physician is substituted for the
former reference to a "registered licensed physician
of Maryland", for clarity and brevity.

In item (2) of this section, the reference to an
"application" fee is substituted for the former
reference to "registration" fee, to conform to the
terminology used throughout this article.

5-403. REGISTRATION AND ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE.

(A)  REGISTRATION.

THE BOARD SHALL REGISTER AND ISSUE A CERTIFICATE OF
REGISTRATION TO EACH APPLICANT WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
SUBTITLE.

(B)  CONTENTS OF CERTIFICATE.

THE BOARD SHALL SEAL EACH CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION THAT
THE BOARD ISSUES WITH ITS OFFICIAL SEAL.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is standard
language added to state expressly that which only was
implied in the former law -- i.e., the Board must
register a qualified applicant and issue a certificate
of registration to that applicant.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause of
former Art. 56, § 495(d).

5-404. SCOPE OF REGISTRATION.

(A) STUDENTS.

WHILE REGISTRATION AS A STUDENT IS IN EFFECT, THE
REGISTRATION AUTHORIZES THE INDIVIDUAL:

(1) TO ENROLL AND PARTICIPATE AS A STUDENT IN A
SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY THAT HOLDS A SCHOOL PERMIT; AND
