AN ACT concerning

Caroline and Worcester Counties
County - Employment
of Prisoners - Collection
of Certain Costs

FOR the purpose of requiring prisoners incarcerated in the
Worcester County jail who are employed to pay the cost of
their medical care while in the jail; requiring prisoners
incarcerated in the Caroline County jail who are employed to
pay certain costs while in the jail; authorizing the
Caroline County Commissioners to designate agents to collect
certain costs; authorizing the Caroline County Commissioners
to establish a certain per diem rate; and generally relating
to the collection of certain costs for certain prisoners in
Caroline and Worcester Counties County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

645AA.

(a)  Prisoners incarcerated in the Worcester County jail OR
THE CAROLINE COUNTY JAIL who are employed under the provisions of
§ 645K of this article shall be required to pay the cost of their
own food, lodging, MEDICAL CARE, and clothing while in the jail.

(b)   [The] IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTIES, THE Worcester
County Commissioners AND THE CAROLINE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS shall:

(1)  Establish the per diem rate for food, lodging,
and clothing; and

(2)  Designate an agent to collect [these costs] THE
COSTS DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION.
