LAWS OF MARYLAND

all moneys [coming into his hands] COLLECTED BY THE TREASURER for
the county, and the faithful performance of other [duties
devolving upon him, such] DUTIES. THE bonds [to] SHALL be
approved as bonds of the sheriffs of the [respective] counties
[of this state] are approved and [to] SHALL be recorded in the
office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for St. Mary's [County,
and a] COUNTY. A copy of [said] THE state bond shall be forwarded
to the State Comptroller as soon as the original shall have been
recorded!, as above required]. THE TREASURER SHALL RESIDE IN ST.
MARY'S COUNTY DURING THE TERM OF OFFICE.

Article 25 - County Commissioners

51.

(a) The county treasurers of the several counties of the
State shall receive annually the respective salaries herewith set
forth for performing the duties required of them by their
respective public local laws and by the public general laws of
the State:

(d) (1) The county treasurer of St. Mary's County shall
receive an annual salary of [$24,000] $29,000.

(2) THE COUNTY TREASURER SHALL DEVOTE FULL TIME TO
THE DUTIES OF OFFICE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or
compensation of the County Treasurer of St. Mary's County in
office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of
this Act concerning the salary or compensation of the County
Treasurer of St. Mary's County shall take effect at the beginning
of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the time
required of the County Treasurer and St. Mary's County and the
residency requirement for the Treasurer may not be applied to the
County Treasurer in office on the effective date of this Act, but
the provisions of this Act concerning the time required and the
residency requirement of the County Treasurer shall take effect
at the beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.
