In Montgomery County, the County Executive shall appoint 2
members of the Planning Commission from a list of applicants. The
list shall be open to the public at all times and shall be
completed at least 3 weeks before appointment or reappointment.
If the County Executive does not appoint an individual whose name
appears on the list or if no name appears on the list, the County
Executive shall provide for the preparation of a second list and
shall follow the procedures applicable to the first list. Within
3 days of the appointment by the Executive, the names of the
appointees shall be delivered to the County Council which shall
within 30 days thereafter either approve or disapprove the
appointments. An appointment that is not disapproved by the
County Council in the manner provided in this title is deemed to
be approved. The Executive appointees may not be of the same
political party.
After December 1, 1986, the County Executive shall appoint
members to the next 2 vacancies on the Commission. The County
Council shall appoint members to the following 3 vacancies on the
Commission. Appointment of members of the Commission shall
follow this pattern. All appointments or reappointments shall be
subject to § 2-114 of this article.
Article 29 - Washington Suburban Sanitary District
1-102.
(a) (1) There is a Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
(2) The WSSC has jurisdiction over the Washington
Suburban Sanitary District.
(b) The WSSC consists of:
(1) 3 commissioners from Prince George's County
appointed by the County Executive subject to the confirmation of
the County Council; AND
(2) 3 commissioners from Montgomery County appointed
by the County Executive subject to the confirmation of the County
Council.
(c) (1) The term of a commissioner is 4 years, beginning on
June 1 of the year of appointment.
(2) The terms of commissioners are staggered as
required by the terms provided for commissioners on July 1, 1982.
(3) At the end of a term, a commissioner continues to
serve until a successor is appointed and takes the oath of
office.
