Ch. 230

LAWS OF MARYLAND

[(vii)] (IX) 3 shall represent tenants of
rental property in areas with a significant presence of
lead-based paint, 1 of whom shall be a parent of a child who has
experienced lead poisoning;

[(viii)] (X) IN ADDITION TO THE LOCAL
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS REPRESENTATIVE PROVIDED IN ITEM (VII)
OF THIS PARAGRAPH, 2 shall represent local governments in areas
with a significant presence of lead-based paint, 1 of whom shall
be from Baltimore City;

[(ix)] (XI) 2 shall be health care providers
who are knowledgeable in the field of lead poisoning prevention,
management, and treatment;

[(x)] (XII) 2 shall be members of the general
public; and

[(xi)] (XIII) 2 ex officio members as provided
in subsection (c)(4) of this section.

(b)  Each member of the Advisory Council shall be an
individual who is knowledgeable about or has a serious interest
in the prevention and treatment of lead poisoning.

(c)  (1) The term of a member is 3 years.

(2)  At the end of a term, a member continues to serve
until a successor is appointed and qualifies.

(3)  A member who is appointed after a term has begun
serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is
appointed and qualifies.

(4)  The Speaker of the House of Delegates or the
Speaker's designee and the President of the State Senate or the
President's designee shall serve as nonvoting members of the
Advisory Council.

(5)  Members are eligible for reappointment.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.
