AN ACT concerning

Middle Atlantic Interstate Forest Fire Prevention
Protection Compact

FOR the purpose of amending the Middle Atlantic Interstate Forest
Fire Protection Compact to provide for the addition of the
State of Ohio to the compact among the States of Delaware,
Maryland, New Jersey, and West Virginia and the
Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia for the providing
of mutual assistance in forest fire prevention and control
in the Middle Atlantic area and with adjoining states;
making stylistic changes; providing for the enactment and
effective date of this compact; and generally relating to
the addition of the State of Ohio to the Middle Atlantic
Interstate Forest Fire Prevention Protection Compact.

Preamble

WHEREAS, By Chapter 126 of the Laws of 1956, the General
Assembly of Maryland enacted the Middle Atlantic Interstate
Forest Fire Protection Compact on behalf of the State of Maryland
along with the State of Delaware, New Jersey, and West Virginia
and the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia to provide
mutual assistance in forest fire prevention and control in the
Middle Atlantic area and with adjoining states; and

WHEREAS, The State of Ohio enacted a law on February 11,
1988 to join the other signatory jurisdictions in the Middle
Atlantic Interstate Forest Fire Protection Compact; now,
therefore,
