WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                      Ch. 88

sheriff, other deputies, and a jail matron if approved by the
County Commissioners. A deputy or matron shall receive the
compensation provided in the county budget.

(2) If the Sheriff becomes incapacitated and the
position of chief deputy is vacant, the County Commissioners
shall appoint a chief deputy sheriff.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or
compensation of the Sheriff of Dorchester County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
concerning the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of
Dorchester County shall take effect at the beginning of the next
following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.

AN ACT concerning

Dorchester County - County Treasurer - Salary

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the County Treasurer of
Dorchester County; and providing that this Act does not
apply to the salary or compensation of the incumbent County
Treasurer.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,
