(d) No such bingo game shall award a cash prize in excess
of [$50] $100 to any player of a bingo game, except that the
award of a "jackpot" in an amount not to exceed [$500] $1,000 is
allowed when directly connected with the playing of bingo games.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.

AN ACT concerning

Carroll County - Sunday Gaming Events

FOR the purpose of altering the prohibition against certain
carnivals, bazaars, raffles, or games in Carroll County on
Sunday.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 258(b)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

258.

(b) Before the County Commissioners of Carroll County shall
issue a permit to any organizations, it is their duty to
ascertain the character of the organization on whose behalf the
application is made to determine if the application comes within
the provisions of this section. The application and the action
taken thereon by the County Commissioners of Carroll County is a
public record. The permit may not authorize the operation of any
carnival, bazaar, raffle or game [on the Sabbath Day, commonly
called] AFTER 1 A.M. ON Sunday.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.
