until the Department of Public
Safety and Correctional Services
has the Maryland Penitentiary
examined by the Historical Trust,
an independent historical
architect and an independent penal
architect to evaluate the historic
significance of the building and
to determine the feasibility of
retaining the existing structure.
The department shall include these
findings along with a report
providing information on the value
of the building, cost for
salvaging the building and the
cost of demolition versus the cost
of a new facility. The report
shall also include estimates for
the operating costs of a renovated
facility versus a new facility.
The report shall be provided to
the Legislative Policy Committee
no later than September August 1,
1989. The committee will have 45
days to review it.................

"prepare detailed plans and
specifications to upgrade State
Use Industries Brush and Carton
Shop," originally made by Chapter
597 on page 2744 of the Acts of
1987, Section 1(5) of Chapter 597
of the Acts of 1987 being hereby
modified to the extent that the
work may begin upon satisfactory
assurances to the Board of Public
Works that the project can be
completed with the aggregate of
the funds herein and heretofore
appropriated for that purpose.....
