THE CITY AND PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY REAL PROPERTY TAX RATE
IMPOSED ON PROPERTY IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF THE COUNTY IN
THE SAME SUCCEEDING FISCAL YEAR.

[Section(s) 12.a. of the Charter of the City of New
Carrollton, Prince George's County, as found in the compilation
of Municipal Charters of Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed and
reenacted, with amendments.

Effective Date June 25, 1987]

CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 87-0 3

A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF NEW CARROLLTON, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND (SECTION
9 OF ARTICLE 17 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND,
EVERSTINE'S 1963 EDITION, AS AMENDED) AMENDING SUBSECTION 7. a.,
ENTITLED "CONDUCT AND PROCEDURE," OF SECTION 7 of said CHARTER,
ENTITLED "ELECTIONS" TO PROVIDE THAT ALL ELECTIONS, EXCEPT
SPECIAL ELECTIONS, SHALL BE HELD ON THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY; TO
PROVIDE THAT THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN FROM THE HOUR OF SEVEN
O'CLOCK A.M. TO THE HOUR OF EIGHT O'CLOCK P.M.; TO PROVIDE THAT
PAPER BALLOTS SHALL BE DELIVERED TO THE CITY CLERK; AND TO
PROVIDE THAT LANGUAGE USED IN THIS SECTION SHALL BE WITHOUT
SEXUAL PREFERENCE.

A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF NEW CARROLLTON, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND (SECTION
9 OF ARTICLE 17 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND,
EVERSTINE'S 1963 EDITION, AS AMENDED) AMENDING SUBSECTION 7.b.,
ENTITLED "NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES," OF SECTION 7 of said
CHARTER, ENTITLED "ELECTIONS," TO PROVIDE THAT NOMINATING
PETITIONS FOR ANY ELECTIVE OFFICE SHALL BE FILED NO LATER THAN
FIVE O'CLOCK P.M. OF THE THIRTY-FIRST DAY, INCLUDING SUNDAYS AND
LEGAL HOLIDAYS, PRIOR TO A GENERAL OR SPECIAL ELECTION; TO
PROVIDE THAT CANDIDATES WHO HAVE FILED PETITIONS OF CANDIDACY MAY
WITHDRAW THEIR CANDIDACY AND THAT THE NAMES OF CANDIDATES FOR ANY
