Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 692.

This bill authorizes a county or municipal corporation to grant a
property tax credit against a portion of real property that is
improved after July 1, 1988, if certain conditions are met.

House Bill 230, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 27, 1988, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 692.

AN ACT concerning

Property Tax Credit - Employer Day Care

FOR the purpose of authorizing a county or municipal corporation
to grant a property tax credit for certain real property on
which an employer provides used for certain child care
services; authorizing the governing body of a county or of a
municipal corporation to provide by law for the amount and
duration of the credit and any other provision necessary to
carry out the credit; and generally relating to the

authorization of a property tax credit for certain real
property used to provide for certain child care services.
