Ch. 758                                          LAWS OF MARYLAND

(C) THE CHAIRMAN AND THE VICE CHAIRMAN MAY BE REAPPOINTED.
8-304.

(A)  THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL SHALL ESTABLISH COMMITTEES
ON:

(1)  ALCOHOL ABUSE; AND

(2)  DRUG ABUSE.

(B)  MEMBERSHIP OF EACH COMMITTEE SHALL REFLECT EQUAL
REPRESENTATION OF BOTH ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE VIEWS.

8-305.

(A)  THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL SHALL MEET:

(1)  AT LEAST EVERY THIRD MONTH, AT THE TIMES AND
PLACES THAT IT DETERMINES; AND

(2)  AT THE CALL OF ITS CHAIRMAN.

(B)  A MEMBER OF THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL:

(1)  MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT

(2)  IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES UNDER
THE STATE STANDARD TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN THE STATE
BUDGET.

(C)  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PROVIDE SECRETARIAL AND OTHER
STAFF SERVICES TO THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL.

8-306.

(A)  THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL DOES NOT HAVE ANY EXECUTIVE
OR APPOINTIVE DUTIES.

(B)  THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL SHALL:

(1)  BE A STRONG ADVOCATE OF A COMPREHENSIVE,
BROAD-BASED APPROACH TO THE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND
MEDICAL HEALTH PROBLEMS OF ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE;

(2)  ADVISE THE GOVERNOR, THE SECRETARY, AND THE
ADMINISTRATION ON:

(I)  SHORT AND LONG TERM NEEDS FOR SERVICES
WHICH THE STATE ADVISORY COUNCIL HAS IDENTIFIED;

(II)  PROMOTING AND COORDINATING, IN COOPERATION
WITH OTHER FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL OR PRIVATE AGENCIES, UNIFIED
