3. THE AMOUNT OF THE RENEWAL FEE.

(3)  BEFORE THE INACTIVE STATUS EXPIRES, AN INDIVIDUAL
ON INACTIVE STATUS PERIODICALLY MAY RENEW IT FOR AN ADDITIONAL
2-YEAR TERM, IF THE INDIVIDUAL:

(I)  OTHERWISE IS ENTITLED TO BE PLACED ON
INACTIVE STATUS;

(II)  EXCEPT FOR AN ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR, PAYS
TO THE STATE BOARD A RENEWAL FEE OF $50; AND

(III)  SUBMITS TO THE STATE BOARD A RENEWAL
APPLICATION ON THE FORM THAT THE BOARD PROVIDES.

(4)  THE STATE BOARD SHALL RENEW THE INACTIVE STATUS
OF EACH INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SUBSECTION.

(E) REACTIVATION.

THE STATE BOARD SHALL REACTIVATE THE STATE LICENSE OF AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO IS ON INACTIVE STATUS, IF THE INDIVIDUAL:

(1)  MEETS THE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE IN EFFECT
WHEN THE INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS THE REACTIVATION OF THE STATE
LICENSE;

(2)  SUBMITS TO THE STATE BOARD AN APPLICATION FOR
REACTIVATION ON THE FORM THAT THE STATE BOARD PROVIDES; AND

(3)  PAYS TO THE STATE BOARD A REACTIVATION FEE OF
$50.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: Subsections (a)(1), (d)(3)(iii), and
(e)(2) of this section are new language added to state
expressly that which only was implied in the former
law — i.e., an individual must apply for inactive
status, renewal, and reactivation on the forms that
the State Board provides.

Subsection (a)(2) of this section is new language
added to reflect the current practice of the State
Board to charge an inactive status application fee.
This addition also reflects the current practice of
the State Board to charge an electrical inspector who
changes his status from electrical inspector inactive
to individual inactive. However, an electrical
inspector who places a State license on inactive
status is not charged a fee. See § 2-313 of this
subtitle as to electrical inspectors.

Subsections (a)(3), (d)(3)(ii), and (e)(3) of this
section are new language that, in part, is derived
