VIOLATION OF THIS SUBTITLE SHALL BE AN UNFAIR AND DECEPTIVE TRADE
PRACTICE UNDER TITLE 13, SUBTITLE 3, OF THE COMMERCIAL LAW
ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

AN ACT concerning

Consumer Protection - Maryland Telephone Solicitations Act

FOR the purpose of requiring that certain contracts solicited by
telephone be reduced to writing in order to be enforceable;
prohibiting certain actions by merchants regarding telephone
solicitation; requiring that a contract made pursuant to a
telephone solicitation meet certain conditions; providing
that a violation of this Act shall be an unfair and
deceptive trade practice; providing for the applicability of
this Act; defining certain terms; and generally relating to
telephone solicitation sales.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
