WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 440

(b)  The qualifications required of applicants for Board
certification as a medical radiation technologist or a nuclear
medical technologist shall include requirements established and
approved by:

(1)  The American College of Radiology - Maryland
Chapter;

(2)  The Maryland Society of Radiologic Technologists;

(3)  The Maryland Association of Nuclear Medicine
Technologists;

(4)  The Maryland Society of Nuclear Medicine; and

(5)  Any applicable federal standards for training and
certification.

(c)  After July 1, 1988 1989, an individual must be
certified by the Board as a medical radiation technologist or a
nuclear medical technologist before a licensed physician may
employ the individual to practice medical radiation technology or
practice nuclear medical technology.

(D) THIS SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO AN INDIVIDUAL WHO:

(1) IS OTHERWISE CERTIFIED OR LICENSED UNDER THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTICLE; AND

(2) HAS WITHIN THE INDIVIDUAL'S SCOPE OF PRACTICE THE
DUTIES OF A MEDICAL RADIATION TECHNOLOGIST OR A NUCLEAR MEDICAL
TECHNOLOGIST.

(d) (E) After July 1, 1988 1989, an individual may not
practice medical radiation technology unless certified by the
Board.

(E) INDIVIDUALS CERTIFIED BY THE AMERICAN REGISTRY OF
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGISTS ON OR BEFORE JULY 1, 1989 SHALL BE
CONSIDERED CERTIFIED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION.

(E)(F) AN INDIVIDUAL CERTIFIED BY THE AMERICAN REGISTRY OF
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGISTS, THE NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY
CERTIFICATION BOARD, OR THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CLINICAL
PATHOLOGISTS AS A RADIOGRAPHER, RADIATION THERAPY TECHNOLOGIST,
OR A NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGIST ON OR BEFORE JULY 1, 1989 SHALL BE
CONSIDERED CERTIFIED IN THAT SPECIALTY UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS SECTION.----------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, notwithstanding
the requirements of Chapter 788 of 1986, any individual who has
been a medical radiation technologist for 10 years or more on
