AN ACT concerning

Age Identification Cards and Documents -
Sale or Issuance

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the sale, issue, or offer for sale
or issue of any identification card or document containing a
person's age or date of birth; providing certain exceptions;
blank space for a person's age or date of birth or an
incorrect age or date of birth of a person; providing for a

certain exception exceptions; providing for injunctive

relief and penalties for violators; defining a certain term;
and generally relating to the crime of selling, issuing, or
offering to sell or issue age identification cards and
documents.

BY adding to

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 233E to be under the new subheading "Age

Identification Cards and Documents"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1982 Replacement Volume and 1987 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

AGE IDENTIFICATION CARDS AND DOCUMENTS

233E.

(A)  IN THIS SECTION, "OFFER FOR SALE" INCLUDES ANY
INDUCEMENT, SOLICITATION, ATTEMPT, OR PRINTED OR MEDIA
ADVERTISEMENT INTENDED TO ENCOURAGE A PERSON TO PURCHASE AN
IDENTIFICATION CARD.

(B)(1) EXCEPT FOR A GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY OR

INSTRUMENTALITY, OR AN EMPLOYER THAT ISSUES IDENTIFICATION CARDS
TO ITS EMPLOYEES, A PERSON MAY NOT SELL ISSUE, OR OFFER FOR
SALE, OR OFFER TO ISSUE ANY IDENTIFICATION CARD OR DOCUMENT
PURPORTING TO CONTAIN THE AGE OR DATE OF BIRTH OF A PERSON.

(B)  (1) (I) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBPARAGRAPH (II) OF THIS
PARAGRAPH, A PERSON MAY NOT SELL, ISSUE, OFFER FOR SALE, OR OFFER
TO ISSUE ANY IDENTIFICATION CARD OR DOCUMENT WHICH CONTAINS A
