(2) Each scholarship for teachers of the deaf:
(i) Shall be awarded for 1 year and may be
renewed for an additional year at the option of the institution;
(ii) Pays tuition for 1 year at the
institution, as stated in its most recent catalogue; and
(iii) Shall be paid by the State Scholarship
[Board] ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION ADMINISTRATION directly to the
institution.
(e) (1) Each year, the State Scholarship [Board]
ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION ADMINISTRATION shall announce the
availability and conditions of scholarships under this section
at colleges and universities both in and outside this State.
(2) Applicants for these scholarships shall submit
an application provided by the State Scholarship [Board]
ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION ADMINISTRATION, that demonstrates his
merit and eligibility.
(3) The State Scholarship [Board] ADMINISTRATION
COMMISSION ADMINISTRATION shall select the recipients. If a
recipient does not accept the scholarship, the [Board]
ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION ADMINISTRATION shall reaward it.
(f) After certification as a teacher of the deaf, each
recipient of a scholarship under this section shall teach the
deaf in a school for the deaf, a public school program, or a
State approved nonpublic school program in this State for 1 year
for each year he held a scholarship under this section.
Subtitle 8. Medical, Dental, and Nursing Scholarships
18-801.
(a) Each county may establish a program of county
scholarships for students of medicine, dentistry, or nursing, and
may levy and pay any amount required for this purpose.
(b) The county council, board of county commissioners, or
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City may determine the amount
to be awarded, the number of these scholarships, and the method
of selecting the recipients.
(c) An award granted under this section:
(1) May not be held by the same student for more than
4 years; and
(2) May be used for educational expenses, including:
