Preamble

WHEREAS, The Department of Natural Resources would like to
institute a new category for hunting licenses in Maryland called
a "patron's hunting license"; and

WHEREAS, This Act is introduced to provide the authority for
the Department to issue a new "patron's hunting license"; and

WHEREAS, The "patron's hunting license" is not a mandatory
hunting license since it is completely voluntary whether a person
procures such a license; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of the "patron's hunting license" is
for the Department to accrue a new source of funding for the
administration of the hunting license system in Maryland Wildlife
Management and Protection Fund; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

10-301.2.

(A)  THERE IS A PATRON'S HUNTING LICENSE.

(B)  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL ISSUE ON A YEARLY BASIS A PATRON'S
HUNTING LICENSE TO ANY PERSON WHO:

(1)  APPLIES TO THE DEPARTMENT ON A FORM PROVIDED BY
THE DEPARTMENT; AND

(2)  PAYS $500.

(C)  THE HOLDER OF A PATRON'S HUNTING LICENSE MAY HUNT ANY
GAME BIRDS OR MAMMALS DURING ANY OPEN SEASON AND IN ANY MANNER
PERMITTED IN THE STATE WITHOUT OBTAINING ANY OTHER PERMIT
LICENSE, EXCEPT THE FEDERAL AND MARYLAND MIGRATORY WILD WATERFOWL
STAMPS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.
