CHAPTER 178

(House Bill 208)

AN ACT concerning

Forest and Park Advisory Commission - Bifurcation

FOR the purpose of separating the Forest and Park Advisory
Commission into two separate commissions; establishing a
certain membership for the Forest Advisory Commission and
for the Park Advisory Commission; and providing that members
on the Forest and Park Advisory Commission as of a certain
date may serve the remainder of their terms in a certain
capacity.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 5-204

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1983 Replacement Volume and 1987 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Natural Resources

5-204.

(a) There is a Forest [and Park] Advisory Commission in the
Department.

(B) THERE IS A PARK ADVISORY COMMISSION IN THE DEPARTMENT.

[(b)] (C) From and after July 1, [1982,] 1988, the Forest
[and Park] Advisory Commission shall have [14] 9 members.
Members of the Forest [and Park] Advisory Commission shall be
appointed by the Governor, with the advice of the Secretary, to
serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

(D) FROM AND AFTER JULY 1, 1988, THE PARK ADVISORY
COMMISSION SHALL HAVE 9 MEMBERS. MEMBERS OF THE PARK ADVISORY
COMMISSION SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR, WITH THE ADVICE OF
THE SECRETARY, TO SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE GOVERNOR.

[(c)] (E) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this
section, a member of the [Commission on Forests and Parks as of
June 30, 1972] FOREST AND PARK ADVISORY COMMISSION AS OF JUNE 30,
1988, may serve the unexpired remainder of his term as a member
of an advisory commission created by law.
