AN ACT concerning
Charles County - Board of Fire and Rescue Commissioners
FOR the purpose of altering in Charles County the length of terms
for certain members of the Charles County Board of Fire and
Rescue Commissioners; clarifying language; providing for the
terms of members; and generally relating to the Charles
County Board of Fire and Rescue Commissioners.

(1969 Edition and 1977 Supplement, as amended
by Chapter 756 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1984
and Chapter 36 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1987)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 9 - Charles County
123.
(c) (1) The proceeds collected from the County fire and
rescue tax shall thereafter be paid by the County Commissioners
on September 30 and June 30 of each year[, beginning on September
30, 1984,] to all the fire departments and rescue squads,
including mobile intensive care units, in Charles County. The
proceeds shall be distributed as directed by the Board of Fire
and Rescue Commissioners[, which].
(2) THE BOARD OF FIRE AND RESCUE COMMISSIONERS shall
be composed of seven members, one of whom shall be a County
Commissioner of Charles County, two of whom shall be appointed by
the commissioners of Charles County, one of whom shall be elected
by the Charles County Volunteer Firemen's Association, one of
whom shall be elected by the Charles County Association of
Emergency Medical Services, and two of whom shall be appointed by
the Governor. [The gubernatorial members] EACH MEMBER of the
Board of Fire and Rescue Commissioners shall serve without
compensation for terms of four years [each, and the remaining
members shall serve without compensation for one year terms, with'
vacancies]. VACANCIES ARE to be filled in the same manner as the
original membership was filled. [Also, the most recently
appointed gubernatorial member shall be a person who is not
