AN ACT concerning

Dorchester County - Volunteer Fire Companies

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Dorchester County
Commissioners to sell property without public sale to any
volunteer fire company in the County; providing for a
reversion of the property, under certain circumstances, to
the County when the property is no longer used by the
volunteer fire company; defining a term; generally relating
to Dorchester County volunteer fire companies; and making
this Act an emergency measure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 25 - County Commissioners

9.

(a) THIS SECTION APPLIES SOLELY TO DORCHESTER COUNTY.

(B) The County Commissioners [of Dorchester County], in
addition to, but not in substitution of, the powers which may
have been or may hereafter be granted them, may acquire by lease,
purchase, or condemnation, real or leasehold property needed for
any public purpose, may erect buildings [thereon] ON THE PROPERTY
for the benefit of the county, may sell at public sale any real
or leasehold property belonging to the county when in their
discretion it is no longer needed for public use, and may execute
and acknowledge any and all deeds and other instruments necessary
to effect and complete the lease, purchase, or sale of real or
leasehold property.
