CORRECTIONAL SERVICES

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY

For the purpose of placing a
ceiling on the total number of
employees at any one time in
fiscal year 1988, the Department
of Public Safety and Correctional
Services shall not expend funds
for any job or position of
employment approved in this.
budget in excess of 9,413.8

Secretary of the Department of
Public Safety and Correctional

Services shall utilize his

prerogative under §§ 204 4-101
through 204C 4-104 of Article 41
to implement this provision,
provided, however, that any
authorized job or position to be
filled above the 9,413.9-9,408.8
9,414.8 ceiling is approved by
the Board of Public Works and
counted against the Rule of 50
imposed by the General Assembly.
The establishment of new jobs or
positions of employment not
authorized in the fiscal year

1988 budget shall be subject to
the State Finance and Procurement
Article 78A, § 16B(a) 7-236 and
the Rule, of 50.

35.01.01.01 General Administration

General Fund Appropriation,
provided that $1,429,500 of this
appropriation for the purpose of
Deferred Maintenance projects at
correctional facilities under the
Division of Correction and
Patuxent Institution shall be
used for this purpose only and
may not be transferred by budget
amendment or otherwise for any
