WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor
Election Laws does hereby certify that at the General Election
held in the State of Maryland on November 4, 1986, an Act known
as Chapter 649 of the Acts of 1986 was submitted to the voters of
the State of Maryland under the provisions of Article XIV of the
Constitution of the State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
AN ACT concerning
General Assembly - Vacancy
FOR the purpose of requiring the person nominated and appointed
to fill a vacancy in the House of Delegates or Senate of
Maryland to be a member of the same political party, if any,
as that of the vacating Delegate or Senator at the time of
the vacating member's election to office; and submitting
this amendment to the qualified voters of the State of
Maryland for their adoption or rejection.
And it is hereby certified that at said election, 533,419
votes were cast for the adoption of said Chapter 649 and 177,940
votes were cast against the adoption of said Chapter 649, the
said Chapter 649 of the Acts of 1986 has therefore been ratified.
GIVEN Under My Hand and the Seal of the State Administrative
Board of Election Laws of the State of Maryland, Done at the City
of Annapolis, this 8th day of December, In the Year of Our Lord,
One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eight-six.
