WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 640.

This bill permits a certified local government to designate
buildings or structures as historic sites or as located in
certain historic districts for the purpose of qualifying for the
deduction from income tax for preservation of historic property.

Senate Bill 327, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on May 14, 1987, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 640.

Sincerely,

William Donald Schaefer

Governor
