AN ACT concerning

Election Laws - Candidates - Campaign Treasurer

FOR the purpose of defining an Authorized Campaign Committee;
permitting a candidate for nomination to satisfy certain
certificate of candidacy filing requirements by establishing
a certain committee; generally relating to the appointment
of treasurers by a candidate for nomination; and making this
Act an emergency measure.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 33 - Election Code

1-1.

(a) As used in this article the following terms shall have
the meanings indicated unless a contrary meaning is clearly
intended from the context in which the term appears:

(1)   "AUTHORIZED CANDIDATE CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE" MEANS A
POLITICAL COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED UNDER SECTION 26-4 OF THIS
ARTICLE AND AUTHORIZED BY A CANDIDATE TO PROMOTE HIS CANDIDACY.

[(1)] (1A) "Ballot" or "ballots" means paper ballots,
ballots consisting of one or more punchcards, absentee ballots,
or the labels which appear on the face of voting machines,
whichever in context would be appropriate.

(2)   "Board" means one of the various boards of
supervisors of elections in the subdivisions of the State and the
members thereof.

(3)  "Board of registry" means two persons of opposite
party affiliation duly appointed to act as registrars.

designated by any candidate, or his representative, to exercise
