AN ACT concerning

Health Care Providers - English Language Competency

FOR the purpose of requiring that the State Board of Dental
Examiners, State Board of Pharmacy, State Board of Examiners
of Psychologists, and State Board of Social Work Examiners
require that an applicant for a license to practice certain
health occupations demonstrate certain oral competency as a
condition of licensing; defining oral competency; providing
that graduation from certain schools is acceptable as proof
of proficiency in the English language; requiring that
certain boards, including the State Board of Dental
Examiners, State Board of Examiners of Nurses, State Board
of Pharmacy, State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners,
State Board of Medical Examiners, State Board of Podiatry
Examiners, State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, and
State Board of Social Work Examiners, develop regulations to
test the oral competency of certain speech impaired
individuals; requiring certain health occupations boards to
require an oral competency test of certain licensees who are
involved in certain disciplinary actions; and generally
relating to proficiency in the oral communication of the
English language by certain health care providers.
