VETOES

submitted to the Director each term by the jury commissioner of
each county with individual telephone numbers attached.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1987.

June 2, 1987
The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the. Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 366.

This bill exempts U.S. Postal Service and contract carriers
from provisions of Maryland law requiring mandatory use of seat
belts while delivering mail to local box routes.

House Bill 342, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 29, 1987, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 366.

Sincerely,

William Donald Schaefer

Governor

Senate Bill No. 366

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Mandatory Seat Belt Usage - Exception

FOR the purpose of providing that the law requiring seat belt
usage does not apply to certain people while delivering mail
to local box routes.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Transportation

Section 22-412.3

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1984 Replacement Volume and 1986 Supplement)

- 3540 -
