(II)  INTEREST ON THE TOTAL TAX LIABILITY AS
REQUIRED UNDER § 14-605 OF THIS ARTICLE; AND

(III) A TAX PENALTY AS REQUIRED UNDER § 14-703
OF THIS ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill. 294.

This bill authorizes the Governor to issue medals or
certificates to citizens of the State who served in the Vietnam
conflict.

House Bill 202, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 29, 1987, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 294.

AN ACT concerning

Vietnam Veterans - Awards Recognition

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Governor to award issue medals
or certificates to citizens of the State who served with the
armed forces in the Vietnam conflict; and generally relating
to the award of medal and certificates to veterans.
