AN ACT concerning

Anne Arundel County - Erosion Control Tax Levy

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Anne Arundel County Council to
impose a certain tax, under certain conditions for the
construction, maintenance, repair, or reconstruction of
erosion control works, to pay for certain costs related to a
project authorized by the County Council; requiring that the
tax be imposed in the same manner as other county taxes; and
generally relating to a tax in Anne Arundel County for
construction, maintenance, repair, and reconstruction of
erosion control works.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 25 - County Commissioners

167F.

(A) IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, THE COUNTY COUNCIL MAY IMPOSE A
DIRECT TAX LEVY ON PROPERTY WITHIN A SHORE EROSION CONTROL
DISTRICT:

(1)  TO REPAY A LOAN MADE TO THE COUNTY BY THE STATE
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A PROJECT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE SHORE
EROSION CONTROL DISTRICT UNDER § 8-1005 OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES
ARTICLE; AND

(2)  TO PAY FOR MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, AND
RECONSTRUCTION OF SHORE EROSION CONTROL WORKS.

(B)  A TAX LEVIED UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE LEVIED AND
COLLECTED AS COUNTY TAXES ARE LEVIED AND COLLECTED, AND SHALL
HAVE THE SAME PRIORITY RIGHTS, BEAR THE SAME INTEREST AND
PENALTIES, AND IN EVERY RESPECT BE TREATED THE SAME AS COUNTY
TAXES.
