AN ACT concerning
Prince George's County - Prince George's County
Historic Property Grant Program
MC/PG 15-87
FOR the purpose of creating the Prince George's County Historic
Property Grant Program (Program) and the Prince George's
County Historic Property Grant Fund (Fund); requiring the
Prince George's County Board of the Maryland-National
Capital Park and Planning Commission (Board) to exercise
certain powers and perform certain duties relating to the
Program and Fund; making certain legislative findings and
expressions of intent; limiting the amount that the Board
may grant to a recipient during a certain time period;
providing that certain provisions of law do not apply;
requiring the Board to adopt certain regulations; defining
certain terms; and generally relating to the creation of the
Prince George's County Historic Property Grant Program.
BY adding to
Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission
Section 5-301 through 5-307 to be under the new subtitle
"Subtitle 3. Prince George's County Historic
Property Grant Program"

Preamble
WHEREAS, Historic properties significant to Prince George's
County's heritage are being lost or substantially altered, often
inadvertently, with increasing frequency; and
WHEREAS, Once historic properties are lost or destroyed, a
vital part of our community heritage cannot be replaced; and
WHEREAS, Preservation of Prince George's County's heritage
is in the public interest so that present and future generations
may be enriched by the cultural, educational, inspirational,
social, and economic benefits of the past; and
WHEREAS, Increased knowledge of our historic resources,
establishment of better means of identifying and administering
them and encouragement of their preservation will assist the
economic and cultural growth of Prince George's County; and
