handles, mirrors, tires, exhaust system, lights, glazing,
windshield wipers, odometer, speedometer, bumpers, properly
aligned wheels, wheels and wheel lugs, fenders, floor pans, hood,
hood catches, [and] fuel system, FRONT SEAT, MOTOR MOUNTS, GEAR
SELECTION INDICATOR FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, UNIVERSAL
JOINTS, AND SEAT BELTS OR COMBINATION SEAT BELT-SHOULDER HARNESS
IF REQUIRED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT UNDER SECTION 22-412 OR SECTION
22-412.1 OF THIS ARTICLE.
24-104.1.
(a) (1) In this section the following words have the
meanings indicated.
(2) "Automobiles" means all [passenger type vehicles,
including station wagons, minivans, sedans, panel and passenger
vans, and pickup trucks certified as 3/4 ton or less by the
manufacturer] ASSEMBLED MOTOR VEHICLES:
(I) CAPABLE OF BEING OPERATED ON A HIGHWAY; AND
(II) AUTHORIZED UNDER THIS ARTICLE TO BE
OPERATED ON A HIGHWAY.
(3) "Saddle-mount and full-mount combinations" means
a truck tractor or unloaded truck towing 1 or more other truck
tractors or unloaded trucks in combination.
(4) MAXI-CUBE VEHICLE MEANS A NONARTICULATING
STRAIGHT TRUCK, IN COMBINATION WITH A SEMITRAILER WHICH DOES NOT
EXCEED 34 FEET, AND DESIGNED TO BE LOADED AND UNLOADED THROUGH
THE SEMITRAILER.
(j) Except as otherwise provided in this section:
(1) In a combination of vehicles with a power unit
that is a cargo carrying vehicle, the overall length of the
combination may not exceed 55 feet;
(2) Any other combination of vehicles may not exceed
55 feet; and
(3) (i) A truck or truck tractor and semitrailer
combination designed for and engaged exclusively in the
transportation of automobiles, MAXI-CUBE VEHICLES, or motorboats,
MAXI-CUBE VEHICLES, and vehicles operating as saddle-mount and
full-mount combinations may not exceed 65 feet in length.
(ii) No other length requirements may be
applied to the combinations of vehicles described in item (i) of
this paragraph.
