take effect July 1, 1987.

(Senate Bill 209)

AN ACT concerning

Social Services - Foster Care Program

FOR the purpose of requiring a local department of social
services to prepare written permanency plans for children
taken into foster care within a certain time; providing for
certain notice of these plans; requiring the local
department to amend the plan under certain circumstances;
requiring the local department to perform an administrative
review of the success of the efforts to achieve these plans
if this review is not provided by the local board of review
of foster care; and generally relating to the foster care
program.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Family Law

5-525.

(a) The Administration shall establish a program of foster
care for minor children:

(1) who are placed in the custody of a local
department, for a period of not more than 6 months, by a parent
or legal guardian under a written agreement voluntarily entered
into with the local department; or
