Ch. 601 LAWS OF MARYLAND
(3) (I) The term "law enforcement officer" has the
meaning given in Section 727 of Article 27. [However, as used in
subsection (d), the term also includes (i)]
(II) THE TERM "LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER", AS
USED IN SUBSECTION (D) OF THIS SECTION, INCLUDES:
1. [an] AN officer serving in a
probationary status[, (ii)];
2. [a] A parole and probation officer[,
and (iii)];
3. [a] A law enforcement officer of a
jurisdiction outside of Maryland; AND
4. IF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IS
WEARING THE UNIFORM, OR A DISTINCTIVE PART OF THE UNIFORM, WORN
BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WHILE ACTING IN AN OFFICIAL
CAPACITY OR IS_PROMINENTLY DISPLAYING HIS OFFICIAL BADGE OR OTHER
INSIGNIA OF OFFICE, A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER PRIVATELY EMPLOYED
AS A SECURITY OFFICER OR SPECIAL POLICEMAN UNDER THE PROVISIONS
OF ARTICLE 41, §§ 4-901 THROUGH 4-913 OF THE CODE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

AN ACT concerning
Community Sports Recreation Programs - Volunteer
Immunity from Liability-
FOR the purpose of prohibiting the imposition of personal
liability for damages on certain volunteers of community
sports recreation programs under certain conditions;
providing conditions under which personal liability will be
imposed on volunteers of community sports recreation
programs; defining certain terms; providing for the
application of this Act; and generally relating to the
imposition of civil liability for damages on volunteers of
community sports recreation programs.
