the title, on separate lines, a square or box to the right of and
opposite the words: "For repealing Sunday Blue Laws" and a
corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite the
words "Against repealing Sunday Blue Laws" so that each voter of
the county may designate his or her decision for or against the
provisions of this Act. If a majority of the votes cast in the
election are "For repealing Sunday Blue Laws", the provisions of
this Act shall be come effective on December 5, 1988, but if a
majority of the votes cast in the election are "Against repealing
Sunday Blue Laws", the provisions of this Act shall be of no
effect and null and void.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That subject to the
provisions of Section 3 herein and for the sole purpose of
providing for the referendum therein required, this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

(House Bill 1587)

AN ACT concerning

Washington County - Blue Laws

FOR the purpose of permitting certain businesses to open on the
Sundays that fall between Thanksgiving Day and December 25,
with an exception; prohibiting the landlord from requiring
the merchant to be open during these Sundays; prohibiting
the landlord from refusing to renew a lease of a merchant or
otherwise discriminate against the merchant for failing to
be open on these Sundays; providing for a certain penalty;
providing that a certain limitation on the number of
employees does not apply to Sunday openings during this
period of time; prohibiting persons with certain religious
convictions and who give certain notification who have given
written notification in advance from being required to work
on Sundays during this period of time; and prohibiting
certain sales of motor vehicles on Sundays during this
period of time.
