Article 49B - Human Relations Commission
8.
It is unlawful for any person, business, corporation,
partnership, copartnership or association or any other
individual, agent, employee, group or firm which is licensed or
regulated by the Department of Licensing and Regulation as set
out under Article 41, § 8-102(a) "The Department of Licensing
and Regulation," to refuse, withhold from, deny or discriminate
against any person the accommodations, advantages, facilities,
privileges, [sales] SALES, or services because of the race, sex,
creed, color, national origin, marital status, or physical or
mental handicap of any person. Nothing in this section shall be
construed or interpreted to prohibit any person, business,
corporation, partnership, copartnership, association or any other
individual, agent, employee, group or firm which is licensed or
regulated by the Department of Licensing and Regulation from the
right to refuse, withhold [from] FROM, or deny any person for
failure to conform to the usual and regular requirements,
[standards] STANDARDS, and regulations of any [such] person,
business, corporation, partnership, copartnership, OR association
contemplated by this section so long as the denial is not based
upon discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, color, creed, or
national origin, marital status, or physical or mental handicap.
DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects the omission of punctuation
and a conjunction and corrects antiquated language in
Article 49B, § 8.
The omission of the punctuation, commas, and the
omission of the disjunctive conjunction, "or",
occurred in, and the antiquated language was contained
in, Ch. 447 of the Acts of 1971.
The omission of the conjunction was noted by the
Michie Company. The omission of the commas and the
antiquated language were noted by the professional
staff of the' Legislative Division of the Department of
Legislative Reference.
9.
(c) The Commission shall meet at least once each month.
In addition, the chairman or a majority of the Commission shall
have the right at any time to call special meetings of the
Commission upon [five (5) days] 5 DAYS' notice to the members
thereof. The Commission shall establish procedures for the
conduct of said meetings.
