CHAPTER 508
AN ACT concerning
(House Bill 781)
Occupational Safety
FOR the purpose of authorizing requiring the Workmen's
Compensation Commission to request the Commissioner of Labor
and Industry or the Occupational Safety and Health Advisory
Board Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration
to investigate, inspect, and review certain industrial work
sites and practices under certain circumstances; requiring
the Workmen's Compensation Commission to report certain
information concerning industrial safety to the Commissioner
of Labor and Industry under certain circumstances; requiring
the Commission of Labor and Industry to submit a report to
the General Assembly under certain circumstances; and
generally relating to reporting, investigating, inspecting,
and reviewing certain industrial work sites and practices
under certain circumstances.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 89 - Division of Labor and Industry

(J) (1) THE COMMISSIONER IS AUTHORIZED AND EMPOWERED TO
SHALL INVESTIGATE, INSPECT, AND REVIEW INDUSTRIAL WORK SITES AND
PRACTICES OF EACH INDUSTRY OR AND EMPLOYER IDENTIFIED BY THE
WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION COMMISSION UNDER ARTICLE 101, § 14(B)(2)
OF THE CODE FOR EVIDENCE OF GROSS EXCESSIVE SAFETY VIOLATIONS
AND, IF EVIDENCE OF SUCH VIOLATIONS IS FOUND AT ANY SITE, TO SEEK
APPROPRIATE RELIEF UNDER ARTICLE 89, §§ 40 AND 41 OF THE CODE.
