SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

(House Bill 157)

AN ACT concerning

Election Laws - Voter Registration

FOR the purpose of providing for the challenge and correction of
errors in voter registration lists and records; requiring
the board of elections or board of registry to hold a
hearing on certain applications or challenges to voter
registration lists and records; requiring the board of
elections or board of registry to correct certain voter
registration records and lists under certain conditions;
requiring notice to be given to certain persons whose voter
registration status or record is changed; and generally
relating to voter registration records and lists and
procedures for challenging, correcting, and changing
information contained in voter registration records and
lists.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 33 - Election Code

3-16.

(A) (1) WHENEVER A BOARD OR BOARD OF REGISTRY DETERMINES
THAT, AS THE RESULT OF A CLERICAL ERROR, A REGISTRATION RECORD
IS ERRONEOUS, THE BOARD SHALL CORRECT THE ERROR AS SOON AS
PRACTICABLE AND NOTIFY THE PERSON WHOSE RECORD HAS BEEN
CORRECTED. NOTIFICATION SHALL BE BY FIRST CLASS MAIL.

(2) IF A BOARD OR BOARD OF REGISTRY DETERMINES THAT
THERE IS REASON TO BELIEVE THAT, OTHER THAN AS A RESULT OF A
