Culture are hereby transferred to the Maryland Commission on
Afro-American History and Culture.

[(e)] 5-305. The Commission may seek funds from the federal
government, foundations and private sources in addition to State
funding.

[(f) (1)] 5-306. (A) The Commissioners, subject to the
approval of the Secretary [of Economic and Community
Development], shall appoint from without their number a director
of the Commission on Afro-American History and Culture.

[(2)] (B) The director shall serve at the pleasure of
the Commissioners, subject to the concurrence of the Secretary
[of Economic and Community Development], and shall be an
unclassified employee of the State [of Maryland].

[(3)] (C) Subject to the rules and policies set forth
by the Commissioners and the administrative supervision of the
Secretary [of Economic and Community Development] in accordance
with [Article 41, §§ 11-101, 11-102, and 11-105 of the Maryland
Annotated Code] §§ 1-102, 1-103, AND 1-106 OF THIS ARTICLE, the
director shall:

[(i)] (1) Be the chief administrative officer
of the Commission;

[(ii)] (2) Direct, administer, and supervise
the activities of the Commission; and

[(iii)] (3) Supervise the appointment and
removal of personnel employed by the Commission.

Subtitle [3.] 4. Commission on Indian Affairs

[15-301.]

[(a)] 5-401. The Commission on Indian Affairs is [created
as] an agency in the Department [of Economic and Community
Development of the State government]. [It] IN THIS SUBTITLE, IT
shall be referred to as the "Commission."

[(b) (1)] 5-402. (A) The Commission shall consist of nine
members appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of
the Senate, a majority of whom shall be members of the native
American Indian communities of this State. The members of the
Commission shall have knowledge of Indian culture and history,
and be sensitive to the problems of the Indian communities. The
term of a member is 3 years [except that, of the nine members
appointed on July 1, 1979, three serve 1-year terms, three serve
2-year terms, and three serve 3-year terms]. At the end of a
term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed
and qualifies. A member who is appointed after a term has begun
